Jacob and I were invited to assist with worship at the Chalkyitsik revival with Hannah in May, 2006. It was my first trip out for the purpose of revival to one of our rural communities. We were surprised to be greeted by Charlie and June, friends from the Valley when we lived there.
What I learned during this revival was how selfless people are when spreading the Word and the love of God. They are truly doing what God has commanded them to do, to preach the Gospel to all men. Our pilot, Danny Davidson, was the only pilot available for the whole revival. He worked non-stop the whole weekend, picking up and dropping people off at Chalkyitsik and then taking them back home. He was late for dinner every night and always had a smile on his face! He was a wonderful traveling companion and when we flew back to Anchorage, his wife prepared a delicious dinner for us!
I believe that the work of the CPA is more important than most people know. God commands us to go to the ends of the earth to spread His Word and the CPA is helping to touch lives in the most remote areas of our state. The state of Alaska’s statistics regarding suicide, substance abuse, FASD and child abuse and neglect are high compared to the national averages are largely due to the high percentages within the native Alaskan population in urban and rural sites. There are many hurting people out there that need healing and the Word of God and the CPA is helping to make it happen.
